When Mother Nature strikes and your home sustains wind, hail, or other storm damage, you should be covered by your homeowners insurance. Whether it’s your roof, siding, gutters, or windows that have taken the hit, you should be eligible to file a claim and get your home repaired with little to no out-of-pocket cost.
Over the past two years, Spokane has been the victim of wicked winds which have caused visible damage to some roofs and compromised many others. While visible damage is one thing, most homeowners don’t know if their roof has been compromised internally, which can result in major damage later if left unrepaired. If you’re unsure about your roof, call a licensed, bonded, and insured professional to do a formal inspection. Most reputable contractors will do this free of charge.
What happens when the inspection does turn up damage and you need to file an insurance claim? Heritage Roofing & Construction is here to help you with this process by turning it into six easy steps.
- Step 1: Call our Spokane roofers to set up a free inspection with our team. During the inspection, we use a water-soluble chalk on your roof to mark any damages we see, and take photos to document everything. We then provide you with an inspection letter detailing our findings for you to share with your insurance company.
- Step 2: If you haven’t done so already, you’ll need to contact your insurance company to file a claim, and they will send out an adjustor to inspect the damages. Once you sign a contingent contract allowing us to work with your insurance company, we will meet the adjustor on site to review any damages, and ensure agreement upon the work that needs to be done.
- Step 3: Following the inspection, the adjustor will send you paperwork regarding what damages are covered. We request that you share this information with us to ensure that the damages have been accurately and fairly evaluated before approving the work to begin.
- Step 4: We schedule a date for roof replacement and choose products for your new roof.
- Step 5: Upon completion, we send a final invoice and notice of completion to your homeowner’s insurance company, and any additional recoverable funds (i.e. depreciation) will be released.
- Step 6: The insurance company submits payment to us, and you get to enjoy your beautiful new roof!
